“The Only Good Indians” by Stephen Graham Jones |
As Halloween approached, I got more and more in the mood for a good scare. I first tried movies, including “Bad Hair” and “A Ghost Story.” Both failed to deliver the scare I hoped for.
But then I stumbled on “The Only Good Indians” by Stephen Graham Jones. As it turns out, I should’ve been reading all along. (Though I do believe this book would make an excellent film.)
Jones’ ghostly tale takes place ten years after four young Blackfeet men hunt for elk in a restricted part of their tribal reservation. That fateful trip comes back to haunt both the men and their loved ones.
It's an easy read; I had no trouble visualizing the imagery. I've recommended this book to three or four people already — and now I'm recommending it to you.
